As the charity partner of the Peace International Foundation (PIF) over the past five years, The Executive Centre was very honoured to be PIF's associate in holding the United Nations (UN) International Day of Peace Ceremony held on 17 September 2016 at TEC One Island East centre in Hong Kong.

The UN International Day of Peace, generally known as Peace Day, is observed annually on 21 September, and the UN invites all nations and people to honour the cessation of hostilities and commemorate the Peace Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

The invite-only United Nations’ International Day of Peace was well attended by the industry representatives, professors and students. At 12 noon, a minute of silence was observed, followed by the ringing of the Peace Bell, a video message from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moo and several keynote speeches. The ceremony successfully concluded with an international flag parade and a youth forum focusing on the issues related to peace.

Gigi Liu, Corporate Director of Marketing & Communications, The Executive Centre remarked in her speech at the event, “The Executive Centre believes that by supporting world peace initiatives, we are proactively helping to promote the values of sustainability and peace that will transcend racial, ethnic and cultural boundaries across the globe and contribute to creating a more harmonious and peaceful world.”

“The road to peace begins with each and every one of us, and we see so much opportunity for The Executive Centre - and the corporate community at large to join forces to spread the message of peace to every corner of the world. We hope that by working together, we can collectively forge a more peaceful tomorrow for us all.”

Peace International Foundation is a non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit organisation, which advocates promoting peace, freeing the world from suffering and breaking through the barriers of race, religion, cultural differences, politics, and discrimination that so often prevent communities from living in peace and harmony. The Foundation actively supports United Nations peace initiatives through youth-centered education and community involvement.
