Opportunity Across The Border - South China Morning Post interviews Gigi Liu, Communications Director of The Executive Centre

The “Regulation on Commercial Registration in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone” launched on 1 March 2013 has made Hong Kong’s neighbour probably the easiest city in China to register a company. In three months to June, over 100,000 enterprises and individual proprietorship enterprises registered, representing a 133 per cent year-on-year increase, according to the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC. But instead of competition, the new development will be in synergy with Hong Kong’s economy, according to The Executive Centre.

Gigi Liu, Communications Director of The Executive Centre commented, “Without doubt, with a streamlined business license registration procedure and less set-up capital required, this favourable policy will bring in a number of local SMEs and overseas companies who can now start their business immediately in Shenzhen. We also expect an increasing number of overseas-based clients looking for business opportunities in this city.”

“Both Hong Kong and Shenzhen have their own characteristics that define their competitive advantages and conditions for development. The new Shenzhen regulation will encourage cross-border business opportunities between Shenzhen and Hong Kong given that they are closely linked and dependent on each other,” she added.
