The Executive Centre was proud to support the United Nations’ International Day of Peace held on 19 September 2015 at Marymount School Secondary & Primary School in Hong Kong, in its continued partnership with United Nations-recognised NGO, Peace International Foundation.

2015 is the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations since the signing of the United Nations Charter. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of the value of partnerships in fostering peace, with special focus on young people. This theme also aims to draw attention to the important contributions that civil society has made to the achievement of peace throughout the United Nations’ existence as well as to spotlight on the essential role civil society, and in particular youth, will play in achieving the sustainable development goals that will guide them on the road to dignity by 2030.

The invite-only United Nations’ International Day of Peace was attended by the local and foreign diplomats, officials, representatives from NGOs, principals and student leaders. At 12 noon, a minute’s silence was observed, followed by the ringing of the Peace Bell and the waving of the UN flag, an International Flags Parade, a video message from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moo, and several keynote speeches. The ceremony concluded with the musical performances by the Peace International Youth Orchestra.

Gigi Liu, Corporate Director - Marketing & Communications of The Executive Centre attended the ceremony and remarked, “We were honoured to join this momentous occasion and be a part of commemorating Peace Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.”

“The Executive Centre has been a charity partner with the Peace International Foundation for several years, and believe that by supporting events such as this, we are proactively helping to promote the values of sustainability and peace that will transcend the boundaries of racial, ethnic and cultural diversity across the globe, contributing to creating a better, fairer world through the joy of peace,” she continued.

Peace International Foundation is a non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit organisation, which advocates promoting peace, freeing the world from suffering and breaking through the barriers of race, religion, cultural differences, politics, and discrimination that so often prevent communities from living in peace and harmony. The Foundation actively supports United Nations peace initiatives through youth-centered education and community involvement.
